The database is a partial record of Ships Passenger Lists to Pennsylvania. Most of these ships carried Palatine refugees. The ocean voyage was harsh, over-crowded, under-supplied, and unsanitary . What provisons were supplied were generally the least expensive available to the ship's master. Water frequently ran out, as did food. High mortality occurred on many voyages. The Palatines also faced robbery, deception, and worse from those transporting them.
